Though Pedersen’s Last Dream can be read in any order, despite what many readers may think, there is an underlying plot, which has a chronological tale behind it.
But chronology, as opposed to time, is irrelevant to the work in many ways, as its very core questions most current theories regarding time and its very existence, beyond the perception of time we have as human beings.
Our own perceptions of time are dictated by our experiences of aging, which is quite a different thing. The fact physical existence may be controlled by an abstract is an interesting subject in itself.
Since it was first began over thirteen years ago, remarkably similar hypotheses to some of Pedersen’s wildest fancies have been suggested by leading phycisists the world over, albeit in a rather different form.
